Wow, I guess I downloaded just before all this happened (I grabbed v6.6.2 on Thursday). I think this could be good, but it all depends on how google treats the existing userbase.

I can see this as google wanting this technology/software base for use in their google tv product line, but that could be good or bad depending on how they want to use it. If they basically plan on bringing SageTV over into Google and basically fund them to continue working and give them additional resources, etc., it could be a very good thing for us. If they just want to get the existing code base so they can strip out certain technologies in it for use in their existing google tv or similar products, this could be the end.... We will all just have to wait for more information.

Can you use the same paid license info from SageTV 7.0 Media Center for Windows on the newest Release Candidate (7.1.9)?

yes, major versions are licensed the same. a v7 license will work for 7.x
