Thanks for the replies. I should have been more specific. Slugger said it best. I was really referring to current projects being finished. It seems phoenix is still pretty active. I know Ortus is (correct me if I'm wrong guys). Diamond seems to be on summer leave. I wonder if Plucky is going to finally finish the info screen in SMM (really the only thing I'd want to finish).
I'm really glad my SageTV setup was rock stable when the announcement came. The only thing I'm upset about is no longer being able to expand my system. I've got 2 clients and a server licence. That would be plenty if I had some extenders. Maybe I'll get my wish.

First, another round of thanks to all the developers:
Second, the responses by some of the devs in this thread are specifically why I am looking at alternatives already (someone sort of asked me that recently, here on the forums). SageTV as we knew it is dead, as far as SageTV LLC is concerned. The only thing that would keep it going is the devs and even that will cease eventually, if it hasn't already.

Everyone needs to make their own decision but I agree it will take a solid community of both users and developers to keep SageTV alive (and changing for the better).
As I have stated before I am here to stay and plan to continue with the current plugins that I have created or teamed up with others to deliver. I am also working on a soon to be released Dynamic Menu system that I think will fill in a gap for many users who miss this functionality from prior to 7.x or who may not have upgraded due to this lacking feature. No promise as to a delivery date and I didn't plan to say anything on this yet but I hate to read of users leaving thinking that SageTV is standing still. As with each customization it tends to be a lot of work but fun in the process. I think we are fortunate to have a stable product with a very recent upgrade and a very customizable interface as well as forum supported choices like diamond, Phoenix etc that make this product worth using each day. k |
