SageTV extenders have been aborted from sales. Google could have easily given SageTV customers who rely on extenders another path. But they have not.

So SageTV already started decaying weeks ago when the annoucement was made and no provisions were setup for existing customers to continue with some kind of extenders.

that would all appear to be true. Paying $400 for an extender on Ebay seems desperate at this point

agreed, but just make sure you turn off all Windows updates on the machine running your server, no? I guess that includes Hauppauge updates as well, or will they take into consideration their user base who maintain a product that has stopped with W7 SP1?

There is nothing wrong with people sharing their opinion about what may be going on or what will happen, but when they state that opinion like it is a fact and nobody else is right, then we have a problem.

Yes, it's the place where every single person's opinion is the only one that counts and nobody else knows as much as them. Where the line between opinion and fact (or, gulp, news) was blurred about 15 years ago and gets blurrier every day. For starters, I have never had a windows update affect a piece of software. Second, I have no reason to have updates on a headless sagetv server. I also don't have any hauppauge products short of my MediaMVP in my kids' play room.

It should stick out if they paid $50M for Sage. If they paid $10 or less, probably harder to find. Less that $2M might show up in the total paid being low but would require some diligence on what else was bought. There could also be some contingent payments from prior acquisitions in the amount paid in the quarter.

Ok, Google spent $715M during the quarter on apparently 6 companies. So it's really hard to tell with so much activity. Admeld was the biggest at an estimated $400m but that may or may not be accurate. Also, as I mentioned, they may have paid cash related to previous acquisitions. So conclusion is...inconclusive.
