USB capture for SD material.

So, what do you guys recommend for SD capture using either composite or s-video with audio? I just need a cheap usb device because my Colossus doesn't like SD material (neither do I, but DirecTV sucks and doesn't have AMC or BBCA in HD).

I'm using my HVR-2250 with SVideo on one server and nVidia DualTV with SVideo on another server. I use the HVR-2250 for QAM because I have my locals from cable company since they are available with Internet Only from the cable company and DirectTV for video. Realize you were looking for USB but wanted to suggest a possibility that you may not have thought of.

I was thinking about using one of my cards. All of them are using qam, but I'm not sure if the composite or s-video input can be used in addition to, or in place of the other tuners. I'm going to try it when I get home.

I have my HVR-2250 hooked up to SD SVideo from DirectTV and 2 QAM tuners for locals from cable company. My Colossus for HD HDMI video from DirectTV. Since I'm using a single DirectTV STB I have to go through the schedule and make sure the SD isn't trying to record something from DirectTV at the same time as the Colossus.

What about if both qam tuners are recording? With the 2250 still record the svideo feed?

EDIT: I just remembered that my 1600 is a dual tuner, but the catch is one HD and one SD not dual HD or dual SD. Works perfectly in this situation. I now have 6 tuners. 4 QAM, 1 HD DirecTV, 1 SD DirecTV. Awesome.

No. I can only have two recordings on the card either 2 QAM or 1 QAM + 1 SVideo.

Glad you got it working. Always nice to reuse old hardware when you can.
