Options?

Okay Sage products sound good, but what option is there if I can't get the Channel Guide for my area?

I've read many thing sin the forum, but honestly it looks like it's full of ???'s, buggy software, gaps in the data, etc.

I'd love to not have to pay.. part of the goal of setting up my own system... but if I have to, I will... BUT, again, my area is not supported.

Any "not too techie" people figured out a solution that doesn't cause me to wake up at 3 am, download something, try and get it imported, tweek this for a bug, etc. I think you get my point.

Thanks,
Troy

If you read the "Subscriptions Options ?" you know the "no data" bug in XMLTV is fixed. I know I was one of a very few who had it. As for setup of the plugin the website is well documented, and you only need to do it once. As for XMLTV epgdata updates, batch file and windows scheduler is all you need.

I'm not ragging you. It's just that this is an unofficial feature. They did not have to add it.

As for coverage, I'm glad Sage is moving slow. Digiguide just shut off US service yesterday, because they were locked into a contract that forced them to pay for epg data they never used. They would have went bankrupt if they stayed in the US. This way they can at least live on at a profit in the UK. Digiguide US was great and was killed by the EPG provider's monopoly and a too aggressive rollout strategy. I don't want this to happen to Sage.

If you have WinXP I will gladly help you set up an automatic epg update. I can email you my batch file, if you use the same directories. Heck, ask and I would gladly rewrite the batch for your machine. I have mine setup to download at 8AM daily in a minimized window. It does everything neccessary and then closes. We could easily change the time if you want. If you need any assistance with the xmltv plugin, I will be glad to help however I can. I'm sure many here would help as well.

Troy,

You can also choose another area for which SageTV supports and then remap the channel numbers to your specific lineup. These settings will be saved with every EPG update going forward.

Where do you live?
