No 5.1 out....it does work, right?

I have been fighting SAGE 2.0 all night.

I've read the posts, but maybe because it's getting late, I can't find a single one to try and help myself.

I have been trying to get SAGE 2.0 to work with ANY decoder to out put DD5.1

I even bought the SONIC DVD CODECS for $14.95 to help out, but they do absolutley nothing (improved the picture a bit though! )

Under DETAILED SETUP/AUDIO/AUDIO RENDERER/ i have selections for:

DEFAULT
REALTEK AC97 AUDIO
CYBERLINK AUDIO RENDER (ATI)
DEFAULT DIRECT SOUND DEVICE
DEFAULT WAVOUT DEVICE
DIRECTSOUND: REALTEK AC97 AUDIO

Under DETAILED SETUP/AUDIO/MPEG2 DECODER FILTER I have:

DEFAULT
MPEG AUDIO DECODER
CYBERLINK AUDIO DECODER (ATI)
INTERVIDEO NONCSS AUDIO DECODER FOR HAUPPAUGE
INTERVIDEO AUDIO DECODER
FFDSHOW AUDIO DECODER
SONIC CINEMASTER@DS AUDIO DECODER

Under DETAILED SETUP/DVD/DVD AUDIO DECODER FILTER I have:

DEFAULT
MPEG AUDIO DECODER
CYBERLINK AUDIO DECODER (ATI)
INTERVIDEO NONCSS AUDIO DECODER FOR HAUPPAUGE
INTERVIDEO AUDIO DECODER
FFDSHOW AUDIO DECODER
SONIC CINEMASTER@DS AUDIO DECODER

Under DETAILED SETUP/DVD/AUDIO RENDER I have:

DEFAULT
REALTEK AC97 AUDIO
CYBERLINK AUDIO RENDER (ATI)
DEFAULT DIRECT SOUND DEVICE
DEFAULT WAVOUT DEVICE
DIRECTSOUND: REALTEK AC97 AUDIO

WHAT combination works to get me 5.1 out? I've been mixing and matching to no avail.

In case it matters, I'm hooked up to my Reciever via OPTICAL out.

If I play Intervideo DVD, I can get 5.1 to work fine, but nothing thru SAGE 2.0

Any help, links would be greatly appreciated.

You want to use "Sonic Cinemaster@ DS Audio Decoder" as the DVD audio decoder and either "REALTEK AC97 AUDIO" or "Directsound: REALTEK AC97 AUDIO" as the DVD audio renderer.

You also need to set the Sonic decoders to S/PDIF via the control panel application.

kny3twalker,

What were your Sonic settings? It's never given me any trouble with S/PDIF.

What kind of computer speakers? Sonic doesn't do 5.1 analog unless you have the surround version.

I just have S/PDIF selected as the output in the Audio Settings.

In the registry AC3SPDIFEnabled = 1

cool I know I have never changed a setting like that with any decoder
I will give it a try

Boston Acoustics

Also I knew you could do 5.1 analog in cineplayer but are you saying that you can do 5.1 analog in the sonic decoder settings as well as long as you have the full version of cineplayer

I never saw that option

Where is this control panel application?

The only thing I see that Cine Player installed was an icon in my tray that gives me an option for :
WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER
REGISTER CINEPLAYER (I have not)
UPGRADE TO SONIC CINEPLAYER
CINEPLAYER SHOPPING
CINEPLAYER HOMEPAGE
CINEPLAYER SUPPORT
HIDE AND CLOSE

I see/find nothing to let me select spdif out, nor do I find anything that lets me select. When I installed the codec, I did see an option for the DOWN MIX to stereo or something, but even then, NOTHING about SPDIF.

maybe I bought the wrong $14.95 package?

Should be in the windows control panel.

Otherwise start regedit and go to
HKLM\Software\Sonic\Cinemaster DS DVD\2.5\AudioDecoder and set the DWORD AC3SPDIFEnabled = 1.

AFIAK, there's only one package, and it's the same one that comes with TheaterTek.

kny3twalker,

I think you meant to say you can't do analog 5.1. But you need Sonic Cineplayer Surround to do 5.1 analog.
http://www.cineplayer.com/cineplayer...ault.asp?from=

Here are the audio setup panels from CP Surround for doing 5.1 Analog.

No I was referring to using other decoders and doing 5.1 analog and just not using sonic for that
got powerDVD 5

but the picture you posted was just for cineplayer correct?

This picture is from cyberlink decoder using radlight to view it but it is the same as the one you see tthe program as well

Yeah I knew sonic did not have an option for 5.1 analog for the media center decoder

I think we have two different conversations going on here, and as usual, I'm getting lost.

Try changing your Audio Renderer in the DVD section to something else in the list. Make sure you reload the Media Player after each change - (Sleep does that for sure).

kny,

Those screenshots are from Sonic Cineplayer Surround. There's really two versions now, the standard CP 1.5 and CP Surround. CP Surround comes with a second Sonic Cinemaster@ DS Advanced Audio Decoder that can do 5.1 analog.

Raymond,

Yeah, kny and I are discussing analog decoding in Sonic.

how much was that add on?
to go from the media center decoder to advanced audio?

so which do you like better spdif or 5.1 analog?

I seem to find that 5.1 analog that voices are louder and not so much surround noises

I think it will be $50, IOW, you have to buy CP Surround to get it. I'd email them to find out for sure. I know I actually got an upgrade because I had CP from before Surround.

I'd say it's not worth the trouble if you already have a decoder that works. Me, I don't even use it, I've found the HW decoder in my Yamaha reciever to be far superior to any software decoder I've tried.

Maybe you could post a screenshot, all I get is a page asking me for the email address used to register, and since I don't have the same product as you...
