Frontier FIOS customer need help
Ok, I am majorly pissed today. I ordered a hauppauge dual cable card adapter and then called up frontier (I am in oregon) to order a cable card. Told them that I have an HD tivo and need an M card. They told me that they do not have any HD cable cards and that I would only be able to get an SD cable card. They said they have not offered HD cablecards for a year. I moved through several drones at customer support and the order desk and a manager that all said the same thing.
Can anyone on Frontier FIOS confirm that they are using a HD cablecard? Is there a difference between the two. Did they shovel this drivel to you as well? thanks. UPDATE 11/22/2011: Ok, this was a huge bust. I am in beaverton, OR and use Frontier FIOS TV. I got the hauppauge cable card installed and the cable card paired and all works fine in Windows7 media center. I noticed that the copy-once flag was set on all channels except local channels...so that means that I am out of luck with sage and cable card. I am putting this up here for anyone that is thinking of going this route in the Frontier FIOS TV area...evidently this is the case throughout their territory. cablecard, what a joke. The hauppauge is a nice unit and seems to work quite good, tho. Here is a link I didn't find until today after it was too late: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=451107. someone might be able to share some direct experience but in your shoes what i would do is just proceed with the order and see what's what after you get the cards installed. the reason why i say this as that the vast majority of frontier support people are clueless when it comes to fios tv service/products and i say that from direct experience. they just don't know, they haven't been trained and you could spend *days* on the phone trying to get an answer that "sounds" right but no guarantee that it is.
you might also want to post/ask here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/frontiernet
