XP (32bit) to Win7 (64bit) with Sage 6.6.2.218?

I read this post and I just wanted to confirm my scenario.

I am currently running XP Pro (SP3; 32bit) and SageTV 6.6.2.218. I have the SageTV setup EXE.

I would like to confirm my upgrade path as I want to migrate the product to a new box. Obviously part of the issue with moving to a new box is that I would get >3GB of RAM and that is when 64bit is required to actually make use of it.

Q: If I install a new box, is there going to be a problem installing the above executable on the new machine? Or will I have issues? Care only that SageTV V6 would "run" as it would on the XP.

Part of me thinks - if there are ANY problems it would be driver related with the capture cards and I would deal with Hauppauge for those issues. After that the product probably would work fine.

Q: If there are going to be problems - I seem to have read where I may be able to migrate to Sage TV v7 - in which case I would d/l that executable and it would run under Win7 64bit without issues? (I am currently in the "if it ain't broke don't upgrade it" mood so not something I was keen on jumping onboard with)

An alternative would be to install XP (ignoring the additional memory) as an interim measure - though not an appealing path. My existing box is short of slots and so I want a new box (HVR-1600 then add HVR-2250).

A further alternative would be to run the box under linux with Virtual Box and run XP within that - no clue on if that would even be a viable option. (any help with that too would be much appreciated!)

You can use 6.6 under w7 if you want, but there really isn't any reason not to use v7. I've used both with w7 without any issues.
