Certain file consistently crashes HD300

I'm looking at a consistently reproducible situation that crashes my HD300. If I turn on the HD300 and go to the list of recorded TV shows and try to play "Separate Tables", a 1958 movie 2 hours long recorded from WPHL 17.3 ThisTV Philadelphia, my HD300 crashes. The TV screen goes dark and on the back of the HD300 there is a rapid flashing light coming from the Ethernet port. I've found a workaround - once I've got the HD300 rebooted (unplug the power cord from the back, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in and wait a few minutes for it to come back), I play a few seconds of a Nova program recorded from WHYY (Philadelphia PBS station) and then go back to the list of recorded shows and play "Separate Tables" and now the file plays fine.

If Sage products were still supported I would draw attention to this from technical support but at least I've found a workaround.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your problem... but I at least I thought the SageTV products were still being supported (even if no new software is being released). Have you tried sending an email to support@sagetv.com?

If you have VideoReDo you might try a QuickStreamFix on the file to see if that will fix your problem.

Good sugestion on the quick stream fix. If you don't have VRD then you could try playing on the server with VLC. If it will not play with VLC then you probably have some bad sectors on your HD or it is getting ready to fail.

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the files that crash my HD300 - it just doesn't seem to like movies recorded from WPHL 17.3 ThisTV. The workaround I mentioned works consistently - play a few seconds of a Nova program recorded from PBS, then go back and play the problem file and it plays fine at that point.
