Client and Windows 8 Preview
Just finished an install of Windows 8 preview and installed most of my apps. Down to SageTV Client. I installed, deleted, then copied the backup of my installation to the same location that was running on the Windows 7 install but now I cannot connect to the SageTV server.
The error is "The connection to the SageTV Server has been lost. Attempting to restore the connection..." Client is installed on the root of C, UAC is turned off. Network is visible and accessible from the Windows 8 machine, address is correct in the client configuration. Any suggestions? |

You probably should have done a clean install on Windows 8 and not use any backup. Device IDs, and other things have probably changed. Sage worked fine on my Windows 8 install as a clean install. Make sure the network is Home or Private and the ID on Windows 8 has permissions to the Sage server.

Did you add/verify that SageTV and the ports it needs to work are in the Firewall?

Anyone using SageDCT on Windows 8 with a tuning adaptor? Everything seems to work fine, but the MTR-700 is completely non-responsive.
Edit: I figured it out. The Tuning Adaptor proxy service wasn't running. It's running now and SageTV (and I) are happy. Last edited by Dargason; 05-29-2012 at 08:29 PM. |

Wow, you guys are brave.
![]() Did you upgrade from the Consumer Preview and if so how did you accomplish that, I thought one couldn't easily go to the Release Preview from that? |

I'm not sure. I just downloaded it from the Microsoft site, installed on a new drive and played with it for a few day. Then went back to Windows 7.

I'm still running Consumer Preview. I downloaded the release preview, but I'm going on vacation next week and I don't want to throw a monkey wrench into the works right now.
