Via EPIA question...

I've got a EPIA M-10000 board that I'm thinking of building into a old DVD player for a stealth Sage client install. Anybody have any info where this has been done before bookmarked by any chance, as I'd like to see some examples if there are any out there.

My current DVD player chasis' include a Apex AD-1500 & a Sony DVP-S300. The Apex would probably be easier to put a DVD-Rom into (the drive that is in about 50% of these models are already IDE dvd drives, mine isn't however ), but the Sony has much more room internally for say, a HD, DVD reader, possibly a memory card reader, etc.

The main reason I'm wanting to use an old DVD player is for the stealth factor, and of course there's also the fact that I have 2 that I don't use anymore, and wouldn't have to drop the cash for a case .

Guess I'll also need a source for a very small ATX powersupply...

You might want to check out this page:
http://www.mini-itx.com
It's got lots of peoples projects on there, many installs of boards like you describe into nonstandard cases.

Also, I wouldn't get an ATX supply, what you probably want is something like this:
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/ituner/posoformi.html
You can then power the PC off a laptop-style power brick, nice and quiet. Just do some research to make sure you get enough power.

Checked out the projects on that page, some pretty good ideas there. Think I'm going to go with the Sony chasis, its larger, and I think I can get a LCD display that will fit the factory spot. Anybody know if SageTV can send output info from the current playing/recording movies & such?

I found this thread: http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=5195

Wonder if FamilyMan will share what he has so far...

Right now I'd be happy with the upcoming recording schedule, and maybe have girder keep the current time on there as well. I think you can have sage output the current channel you're watching on livetv, so that would be cool on there as well...

*EDIT*

I think I'm going to use an I-PAC to interface the buttons on the front of the Sony player into Sage, from what I've found so far, I can use every button except for the rotary dial, but may be able to use the up/down/left/right arrows on the front panel...

Found a project on another EPIA site that is exactly what I want to do, except he doesn't use it for PVR functions..

http://www.bjblaster.com/Epia_Dvd/Epia_DVD.htm

Only problem I've come up with so far is tha the display I want to use is over $100. Other than that, the rest of the stuff is pretty inexpensive...
