Am I wrong in thinking this new HD-PVR won't work with SageTV without someone (Google, at this point; clearly, quite unlikely) making changes to the SageTV code?

That would depend on the driver support, and if it looks like a standard HDPVR or not. If it looks like a new tunner type, I would think it will not work for Sage and as you say, need some Google intervention.

I expect it will work with SGraphRecorder.

Do you want me to post a link to this code - I think I posted it in the SJQv4 thread.

You can probably accomplish the same task without SJQv4. You just have to kick off Comskip, which can be done in many ways, parse the Comskip log file and then take some action if there is a problem. It could be done in Java, a batch file, etc.

Can you shed some light on what SteamEez is? Also do you know if this new HD-PVR2 will list itself as an HD-PVR as far as Sage is concerned?

I did have a couple errors last year, but it turned out that my adapter for the HDPVR was faulty and it was resulting in a few errors. After replacing the adapters, I've had no issues. The best thing about this new hdpvr for me is that I may be able to pick up a couple of other "old" hdpvrs for cheap

sooo then...are we to assume the analogue hole just got plugged up? An HD-PVR without component/spdif is no use to me...ooo - stereo!

Long time lurker here, wanted to say thanks to the group for such informative posts.
I was just about ready to get an HD PVR but then caught the news of the upgrade: http://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-HD-P...ywords=hdpvr+2 I'm not the smartest guy on the block so bear with me. I'm planning on producing my own show for public access and want to have a YouTube Channel for episodes. But with the StreamEez that was mentioned above, I can gain live streaming? Like posting to UStream? Is that it? Not sure why anyone would buy an HD PVR2 if they can get a StreamEez,which handles both record and then pass live as well. Unless the two are different quality 1080i/1080P? Am I missing something? |
