That's weird. Must be a bug in Sage software or the extender firmware. I'm running the last non-beta on mine because the latest/last beta didn't read some bluray tracks correctly. You could try a different firmware version.

so I moved the HDPVR files to the "old system" and they work. As a test that should have failed I also copied them to the video import directory of the "new system" and they WORKED!!

So HDPVR tv recordings do not work in the TV recording folder, but move them to the video import folder and they work.

This does not make sense but is 100% reproducible.

I hope this gives someone an AHA moment, because it sure doesn't make sense to me.
I take that you import folder are shared in windows? so I wondering is the recording folder is also shared as well?.
I hope you not using the Documents Library Shared

Yes. I am running W7Pro, and have a dedicated recording drive. It is not using simple file share. I have a share to access it from my workstation for this testing.

SHS - I know you said that you don't have an HD200 to test with. Would you be willing to give it a whirl if I shipped you mine to test?

Here what I fig out so far redbaron73 with HD200
All Per-Recoding Schedule Play's with Audio for
I add a Manual Schedule Recording and a min later started play them and they also Play's with Audio.
So far only Live TV Recording doesn't Play with any Audio I try everything under the sun, I'm petty sure that this is a firmware problem that is need to be fix.

I can duplicate your findings.

I also noticed that if I start it as a recording, I can then join it "live" and it will be fine.

I forget, did you say you tried different HD200/300 firmware versions? The latest beta firmware version has problems bitstreaming with some HD-Master sound tracks, so this might be another problem, as well. I use the last non-beta on all of mine, which appears to handle audio properly.

No I don't have all of the older firmware version wish I did I try that on redbaron73 HD200 to see it would solve the problem.
You be using the HD-PVR 2 and starting LiveTV Feed Mode is where the problem is Evil_Attorney other then it work just not with LiveTV.

I assume this is with the beta driver? Does that resolve the live tv issue?

Redbaron, were you ever able to fix your sound issue? I'm having a similar issue with my HDPVR 1512. On certain channels my hd300 won't play any sound, but the actual file does have audio that can be played back on the server.

Any luck fixing this? I just installed 2ea HD-PVR2 units today. Big thank you to SHS for the fix that allows me to use these.

Here's what I noticed. Much of it is the same as others have found but I might have some added information

When flicking through channels live, sometimes that audio will play on the HD200, most times it will not however the media file does have audio in it every time and will play fine in VLC. When the audio plays on the HD200, it shows 'AAC 2.0' after the '720P' in the status bar at the bottom of the screen that pops up when you press the play button.

When the audio refuses to play on the HD200, that 'AAC 2.0' is missing.

If I let the show record to completion and try and go back later to play it on the HD200, same issue. No audio and no 'AAC 2.0' in the popup status bar.

If I watch that same show on a PC extender, the audio is fine however the 'AAC 2.0' is still missing.

If I record the show first, and then go back and watch it, it works every time flawlessly and the 'AAC 2.0' appears every time also.

It's only when I pick shows to watch live from the guide that I'm getting this.

Any ideas?

My HD-PVR2 are connected via HDMI to Dish VIP211k receivers. Everything is working great for scheduled shows, and shows that are recorded before trying to watch them. Problem only occurs when watching live.

I think we've conclusively determined that there is a bug in Sage that is causing this issue with the live TV recordings. My HD300 logs show that on some channels, Sage didn't recognize any sound, only the video. It's unrelated to the sound format (AC3 or AAC will do this) and I tried every possible tweak to my Sage properties and the HD300 properties file to attempt to fix this.

Hauppauge took a look at this issue but quickly gave up. They are really only interested in their products working with their bundled Arcsoft software.

If you want to keep trying to get this working, I would suggest that you systematically try every HD300/HD200 firmware update from the last beta back to the last non-beta. I noticed that the last non beta firmware played back the no-sound channels smoothly, while the last beta version would play 1 second, stop, play one second, stop. So it is possible that a different extender firmware could get this working.
