If I understand the onscreen instructions it means that it will only pass Dolby Digital through the optical output. Like my tv it will not pass DTS. I wish I had such a message to tell me that.

Just to confirm the answer to the original question; the HD200 passes both Dolby Digital and DTS just fine via the HDMI only connection.

I was able to confirm this with the new (HDMI compatible) Yamaha receiver mentioned. This receiver also had a manual adjust for the audio, to delay it to meet the delay in video, so all is good, regardless of the television's inability to pass the Dolby Digital and DTS (HDMI into the TV) out the TV's optical output.

Great! Did you have to use the "Video Out" trick like me?

No, there weren't any tricks required. Had the HD200 set on HDMI/Optical setting previously, just hooked it up and it took off, both AC3 and DTS passed via HDMI, no problem.

No problem.

I'm still puzzled by what I discovered during this investigation...I'm referring to the fact that setting the HD200 audio mode to HDMI PCM and playing DTS audio track my AVR reported a valid digital PCM stereo signal with very low volume level. It looks like that the HD200 is really decoding the DTS, but the SD86xx mixer level has been turned down? I know how to control the internal SD86xx mixer independently from SageTV, so I will perform some experiment shortly...

I wonder if SageTV on the server is doing the decoding?

No transcoder on the server was running during my tests, I recall I did check, and if it was why transcoding to a nearly zero volume?

I guess this would be a question for support.
