Media mvp video playback.
I am considering getting an old sd media mvp for video and music playback on a tv. I have converted all my movies to mkv format. What I need to know is will sagetv 7 automatically transcode the movies so they will play back on the media mvp?

I haven't tried the mvp with mkv files but sage has trans coded everything I have ever thrown at it for the mvp.

No problem here at all. Menu is a little slow running v7, otherwise video and audio playback is smooth. Sad to admit, I am still running 3 MVP's throughout the house, all doing awesome.
Server was an old Sempron 2500+, once I moved to v6 things started getting slow (menu's and playback problems). Now the server is an old AMD X2 4400 with 2gig ram running Win7 32bit. Again, other than sluggish menu's, I have no complaints at all. Enjoy, RedR |

Sorry I failed to mention...
mpg, avi, mp4, mkv, and I use to have a few DVD's (VOB) ripped but I cannot recall if I ever played them on the MVP's. Of course the mpg's play perfect. The others have 1/2 - 1sec delay after hitting play before they kick off, then no problems at all. Even skipping/scanning around is without issue. NOTE: Also most videos stored are around 720x400 all play w/o issue. I've played 1080p clips before on them with two issues. They are slow starting (1-3secs) and usually burps every 5-10secs.
