loss of func in SageTV in EPG absence?? EPG data for IN, AT, SG?
I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 notebook with 3.06ht Pentium IV, ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with 64Mb, dual channel 400Mhz 512 MB RAM and 60GB 7200 RPM HDD.
I'm thinking of buying an Hardware bundle (Sage Tv + Hauppauge wintv-pvr-usb2). Before I do that, I have 2 questions 1. I often travel on business to India, Austria and Singapore. Will sage Tv and Hauppauge wintv PVR-usb2 work in above countries?? if so, where can I find the EPG data for above. I know XMLTV has one for Austria but I could not find anything for India or Singapore. Does anyone have any pointers? 2. In absense of EPG data, how much of the SAGE tv functionality do you lose? Can you still schedule to record, say, channel 53 rom 7pm to 10pm?? has anyone tried this?? Thanks for your help |

You might want to view this post for information about singapore. The user wrote an article called "SageTV Setup For Singaphore".

2) Honestly a good chunk of Sage's functionality is gone without an EPG, no favorites, IR, etc. But yes you can schedule "channel 53 rom 7pm to 10pm" via the "Time base recording" feature. Although I've never used it so I don't know what happens with that feature if you have no EPG data (ie I'm not sure if it will let you record on any given channel without having it in the guide).

Thanks for the pointers.
Thats pretty sad. I guess, WinTV 2000 would be my only choice then. I dont want to spend $70 on software that would run at highly reduced functionality. |

also I do not know if you plan on unplugging the USB2 PVR regularly
but I have read enough posts at SHSpvr.com to think that there is a driver issue with doing that www.shspvr.com/forum you may want to search this first as well |

You should look at SageRecorder, I think it is as good as WinTV 2000. I believe it supports multiple tuners also.
