EPG Woes
Sorry people, this is rather a long one.
I am using a Hauppauge Nova HD-S2 for Freesat card as well as a dual TBS 6280 DVB T2 card for Freeview with Digiguide, Alan Birtles Grabber & Stephane's Importer. I have two lineups, one for Freeview & another for Freesat. Along with others, I had the problem of BBC3/4 Frequency changes & BBC1-HD FEC changes to deal with and the registry changes required for the Nova HD-S2. The result is that, whilst I can now tune the BBC channels I now have a completely messed up Freeview lineup. In order to get the revised frequencies etc I deleted the Nova HD-S2 source, added it back & did a complete scan to capture a new .frq file. I then went to KingofSat & got a complete Freesat channel listing, went through the new frq file & identified the Freesat SIDs & deleted all the other dross. I then deleted the Freesat source in Sage again & restarted the SageTV service. I then went into Stephane's importer, deleted the old Freesat lineup & created a new one with a different name using the new edited frq file just created & uploaded it into Sage. I then recreated the Freesat source, told it to use XMLTV & imported the new Freesat lineup with no channel scan. The result is that I have in the Freesat source what appears to be all the channels in the full scan as well as other channels that MAY have come from the Freeview source, but I'm not sure if they did, or whether they are "old" Freesat channels from earlier scans, somehow "remembered" by Sage. I see things like "69-Absolute80s" and "69-Absolute80s 2-2312-533122-925" in the list of channels. Some of the channel names that don't contain the SID don't tune. I have seen very old posts about removing all epg/channel_lineups/xxxxx= lines from sage.properties but I'm not sure how this works as there are also lines lines called "epg/lineup_overrides". The early posts also seem to suggest that you need to delete ALL sources & start again. I don't want to do this. Any ideas, Brewston et al? We all seem to have been around this one before. |

I don't know if this helps, but when I do a channel scan, make a new channel line up in the xmltv importer and upload the channels. I get copies of the channels that are in the xmltv line up. The importer channels (copies) have guide data but the others have no data.
You may have to remap channels in order to match them up to get a signal and guide data. I you get old channels interfering with you new scan than change their channel number to move them to an unused channel number. I have removed any unused channels from my freesat frq file but this does not always work so I use the above method to deal with problem channels. I hope some of this may be of help.

Based on my experience of setting up two lineups (neither for sat though), my only advice beyond what you have done, is to restart Sage server/service at each step when changing frequ's and lineups

I never got to finding a consistent way to do this successfully (I'm currently on a a freeview only EPG too)
I noticed the other day that in one of the channel tuning screens, there is a 'clear re-mapped channels' option for the lineup, I *think* this may clear those lines from the properties file for you but I never proved it. Take a copy of sage.properties

Brewston, you are correct.
I always clear remapped channels before amending/ refreshing the channel lineup. Otherwise it keeps the original channel info and does not always display the correct information. ps. this is even true when removing the tuner and readding it. |

Thanks guys. I've not been around much so I'll check out Brewston's & Oddity's suggestion and clear the mapped channels. I've also got the issue Paulie refers to in that cahannels in the Freesat lineup have no data, even though they are matched in Stephane's importer. At least, I have a start.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the help. Resetting all the remapped channels did the trick & I now have only the channels in the Freesat lineup from Stephane's importer. |
