Bummer. So I guess I'll have a bunch of HD300's to sell come summer when I hopefully get Fiber installed.

I don't think the HD300 has the hardware needed for playing copy protected content. Does it? (I'm not a hardware guy.) Without that I don't think Google would allow it to connect to the server.

Actually, the HD300's media processor (Sigma Designs SMP8654) DOES have decryption hardware in it, it was just never used by sage.

well, not really - I highly doubt it was in the most recent firmware, and I doubt google is going to be updating the HD300 firmware, when they already have their own new extenders developed and produced.

I have to think there would be more hope of a google fiber extender working with our existing setups than there would be an hd300 working with google fiber. Without the new firmware, I'm willing to bet the HD300 wouldn't even connect to the new sagetv 8 box.

This makes me sad, watching others use Sage and they have no idea what it is. And I can't get it.
