UIRT & Actisys for two STBs - No working

Hi All,

I'm using SageTV with one PVR-250MCE and one ATI ehome wonder. They both work great. I'm also using 2 STBs.

When adding the first TV card (does not matter which one...) and using UIRT - everything works and channels are chaned correctly. adding the second TV card using Actisys 200 it works but the UIRT stops sending commands to the first STB.

If I reverse the process - first use the Actisys and then the UIRT - the SAME - this time the Actisys stops working and the UIRT works.

So, is it possible to use a UIRT & Actisys 200 at the same machine? at the same time?
If not, did anyone tried two Actisys on Com1 & Com 2 - did it work?

Thanks!
Oren.

You should be able to use the USB-UIRT for both, if they are different boxes (with different codes) then you just learn the codes for each box. If they use the same codes you'll have to use the UIRTs muliple source capability. Do a search it's been discussed already.

If I remember correctly (someone else will have to confirm this), SageTV can only control one blaster at a time. You could run one instance of SageTVRecorder for each extra blaster that needs to be controlled.

But, like stanger89 said, you can control both boxes with 1 usb-uirt, as it has 3 zone output now. (Not sure if that applies only to newer ones, though.)

Your USB-UIRT needs to have a Z in the serial number. This was an actual change to the boards surface mounted components. Mine doesn't support it, BTW. I guess that's what I get for being an early adopter.

Can someone please confirm that it IS possible to use two Actisys 200 - one on com1 and the other on com2 - the same time on SageTV.

I'm still waiting for the secont Actisys I ordered...

Just for testing - I tried to add the two TV cards and assign each an Actisys (com1 and than I moved it to com2 for the other TV card to see it). Moving the Actisys from one port to the other - SageTV could send ir to the two STBs. I hope I'm right...

Thanks,
Oren

and

So I can NOT use two blasters....
SageRecorder - the only solution....

Reading this post does not make me a happy camper...

I have three identical satellite recievers. I've physically separated them to avoid signal leakage, but now I have a problem. I was able to get two of them working using two USB-UIRTs. Jon was extremely helpful working me through getting both going. However, as I was out of USB ports, I bought a ACTISYS for the third receiver. Ofcourse, I could not get it to work with the USB-UIRTs. That's quite a deficiency in the Sage software!

Do you have the newer usb-uirt with 3 zone capability? If so, use the zones & put the emitter leads directly over the boxs' receivers.

This is the best way to go, IMO. If neither of your USB-UIRTs supports zoning, contact Jon Rhees and see if you can ship back one of your USB-UIRTs. He might be able to retrofit your USB-UIRT. I don't know if he could do that or not, but it's worth a try. You could use the money your currently spending on the Actisys for shipping/(parts and hours) to get your USB-UIRT upgraded. The less of these, or any device, you have running the better. It just multiples the chances of error. IMO
