Encore N USB wifi dongle - help :)

just got one of these to possibly use with a HD200 (or maybe for something else)

Can they be configured like more recent portable, wifi routers, in so much that there are different modes that can be used, like bridged, repeater, AP and client?

I'm mucking with the software that was on the Encore site, and it's not that intuitive, at least to me. I was trying to find out what it's IP address was, how to give it a name, change modes (if possible) etc.

Does anyone know how to access these, if they can be accessed at all, or does it only work in one, fixed mode (I'm assuming 'client', but can't be sure). If that is the case, there must be a way to give it an IP address, so you're on the same subnet as your primary router, no?

UPDATE: got it working fine when plugged into the HD200 via USB port.

None of the settings you described would be on the device itself, but in the connected OS and drivers. In this case, it's the hd200's firmware

so the only way to access settings is from within the HD200? If you plugged one into say, a Sony Bravia, then you'd access it from there as well?

The likelihood of the Sony having any idea what to do with it is VERY slim at best.

bit confused about the Encore...was it made to be generic, or tied to a media extender?
