HDHomeRun Prime not showing up in SageTV
Rebuilt my SageTV system after the OS HD crashed. Now using an HP EX495 with WHS V1. I had 6 HDHomeRun tuners, these installed and work great. SageTV system sees all of these and I have all the channels mapped correctly and working.
I just received a HDHomeRun Prime and have installed a Comcast CableCard. I used the HDHomeRun setup program and worked with Comcast to activate the CableCard. I can scan for channels, the HDHomeRun software picks them up and I can use the QuickTV to see the channels. All this is done on the same server that SageTV is installed. But going into SageTV to add the tuners, I don't see them, only the 6 HDHomeRun units. I stopped the SageTV service, using the HDHomeRun software rescanned and applied. Restarted the SageTV service, no go. I looked in the SageTV folder and see the 6 HDHomeRUn units SCN/FRQ files but nothing for the 3 HDHomeRun Prime tuners. I did a forum search but didn't come up with anything that I could use, mostly dealing with SageDCT/HDHomeRun Prime issues, but I am not using DCT. Any ideas? |

From your post, I am guessing that HDHomeRun Primes are not seen by SageTV as the standard HDHomeRuns are and I have to use SageDCT?
I found this using your information: Setup process is the same as the Ceton DCT. 1) Make sure you're running 7.1.9 2) Install SageDCT 3) Shut down the SageTV Service 4) Run the SageDCT config tool, scan for devices and generate the encoder properties when all tuners are found 5) copy the results from the txt file into the sage.properties file 6) Start SageTV Service 7) Configure the capture sources to use the right lineup - you do not need to do a channel scan 8) Enjoy (I think) So I will give this a try, can't hurt. SageTV does not natively support cablecard devices like the Prime or the Ceton. That is why you need to install and run SageDCT. It runs as a service and its output will be recognized by SageTV.
Are you aware of the limitations and that you will only see "copy-freely" content?

Thanks for the help. I was able to install SageDCT and get he tuners into the SagetV system, but now having issues with the Comcast CableCard not see all the channels. Its only seeing the clear QAM channels and not decrypting the others. Seeing these errors in HDHomeRun logs:
20130615-18:13:37 CableCARD: Motorola card (0000:0625) 20130615-18:13:37 CableCARD: authentication status: authentication in progress 20130615-18:13:37 CableCARD: authentication status: authentication success, activation success 20130615-18:14:28 CableCARD: card indicated fatal error or firmware upgrade (ccio_detect:218) 20130615-18:14:28 CableCARD: technical error 0 (ccio_detect:219) 20130615-18:14:28 CableCARD: message: A technical problem is preventing you from receiving all the cable services at this time. Please call your cable operator and report error code 161-0 to have this problem resolved. I can see it tuning in the clear QAM channels but not the others: 20130615-19:46:16 CableCARD: Tuner0: vchannel 2 (579MHz-2) access = subscribed 20130615-19:46:20 CableCARD: Tuner0: vchannel 2 (579MHz-2) access = subscribed 20130615-19:49:59 CableCARD: Tuner0: vchannel 40 (585MHz-40) access = not-subscribed 20130615-19:50:14 CableCARD: Tuner0: vchannel 41 (597MHz-41) access = not-subscribed 20130615-20:32:49 CableCARD: Tuner1: vchannel 40 (585MHz-40) access = not-subscribed 20130615-20:32:53 CableCARD: Tuner1: vchannel 40 (585MHz-40) access = not-subscribed Channel 2 is CBS and 40 is Food Network which is in my subscription plan. Called Comcast and they resend the codes to the CableCard, but still no joy. They told me to take the card in for a replacement. So I'll give it another try on monday. Thanks |
