Latest driver for HDPVR any good?

My HDPVR (1212) is acting up as of late. I noticed there are newer drivers out there. 1.7.1 if I can recall correctly. What is the consensus on these? I am on version 1.5x because I think 1.6 was worse for me.

Windows 7 64 bit server.

I searched but couldn't find much.

If it was working perfectly and then just randomly started acting up, then it's probably not a driver issue. You didn't say what you were seeing, but overheating and failing power supplies are the most common problems with the HDPVR. Also, check all your cable connections.

I'll second that. I had a Power Supply get weak. Sometimes it would provide enough to run the HD-PVR, and then sometimes the system would lose contact with its USB connection.
Replacing the power supply fixed it. You can buy replacements on Hauppauge's site. Finding something compatible "in the wild" is a bit tougher. It puts out more amperage than most in that volt range.
I found a universal (multiple tips for various devices) that fit the bill until my replacements (I have 2 HD-PVR's and bought 2 Power Supplies) came from Hauppauge.

On mine when you hit the front switch to turn the unit on the power light was nice and bright, but as soon as the red self test/recording light came on the power light dimmed significantly. Testing the output on the bum supply showed the amperage fluctuating from just shy of the rated output down to almost nothing.

I'll check that out, thanks.

It mainly complains that the signal is lost or whatever and the station may not be broadcasting. Every once in a while it complains about the driver not being loaded.

I also just found out one of my recording drives is failing according to Windows. It just so happens it was recording to that drive during the last failure. Going to keep an eye on that as well.

Just to follow up a few weeks later the HD-PVR couldn't be recognized by the PC at all. It was the power supply after all. Thanks for the help.
