If you look here:
www.edgley.co.uk/p250_2.jpg Inside the red box, you can see that I have had to move the card back to get it to plug in. When I do this, the card is inside the PC, shown by the blue box |

I think that it might be a voltage thing.
Here: http://www.connecttech.com/KnowledgeDatabase/kdb290.htm Shows the different types. This would mean that my server is 3.3v, and the PVR 250 is 5 volts. Square peg; round hole. |

yeah thats the problem, if you look at the diagram on the page the 3.3volt slots are different. Oh well, you might have to get the USB PVR-250, or call dell and get the other configuration

I guess you already know this but since I was looking stuff up while the answer was posted I figured I'd post this anyway :
When you go to the configure page for the Dell Poweredge 1750 there is a choice between: 1X64bit/33MHz and 1X64bit/133MHz PCI-X Riser or 2X64/133MHz PCI-X Riser and if you read this from the specs in the original link you sent: 2 slots on separate PCI buses: either 2 x 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X OR 1 x 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X and 1 x 64-bit/33MHz PCI 5V PCI slot. Only short length (6.875") adapters are supported. So since it doesn't fit in either slot it seems that you have the 2x64 bit/133mhz pci-x riser. You need the other riser. Maybe you can swap it out or purchase the other riser(1 x 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X and 1 x 64-bit/33MHz PCI 5V PCI slot). |

Here's a few links that explain: Neoseeker Quote from Neoseeker: "PCI Express (not to be confused with PCI-X) is the upcoming replacement for both PCI and AGP. A couple of main points about PCI Express While the classic PCI Bus is based upon a parallel architecture, PCI Express is serial based, drastically reducing pin count. It is a point to point protocol much like AGP. Devices do not share bandwidth." Tom's Finally Dell Hope this helps. Regards, Beau |
