PVR-250 Encoder 15 questions
Bought two PVR-250 retails at my local Circuit City, opened them up, and was staring at two 15's instead of 16's.
Now, it's my understanding that the 15 also decodes, just like the 350, correct? However, if I want to do a multi-tuner system, it would be *preferable* to have all 15's or all 16's. So, is the 15 chip more desirable for the decode feature? Should I consider going and buying two more of the 15's, since I eventually want to have a 4 tuner system? |

First, yes the CX23415 has both MPEG encoder and decoder, and it was found on both 250s and 350s. However on a 250 there is no way to use the Decoder, if you want a decoder you need a 350.
About mixing, card it had been true that you needed to match versions for them to work, but from what I've gathered the latest beta drivers (see here) have solved the problems with mixing cards so that shouldn't be a problem. About the only reason to return them for 16s is if you're worried about the extra heat the 15s generate. |

stanger89, you are pointing to older drivers that should be considered obsolete. The correct driver thread is New Hauppauge Beta Drivers for IVAC15/16 Combination .
