How to redo your EPG
Thought this might benefit some folks...
If your EPG is not updating correctly the fastest/easiest fix is to simply redo it. The key is to do so without losing your sources. Here are the steps: 1. visit your current EPG and write down the channels that you have enabled for that EPG source (you will later need to re-enable these manually). 2. copy your sage.properties file (for safety - you can always put back afterward in case you make an error and all will return to normal) 3. stop the sagetv service 4. open sage.properties and remove all entries beginning with "epg/" in the properties file (do not worry - they will all be regenerated automatically. Note: if you have a custom directory for logos make note of the "epg/logo_dir=" property as you will need to reset manually afterward. 5. for each tuner source set the "provider_id=40453653930" (eg mmc/encoders/123456990/100/0/provider_id=40453653930) - this is a special id that means that your EPG has not been setup yet but preserves your tuning source 6. for each tuner source set the "last_channel=" to blank (no last tuned channel) 7. restart your sagetv service 8. go to video source setup 9. all of your tuners should show up without any guide associated. now setup (possibly share) a guide source. put back your channels from step #1 10.exit sagetv and stop the service. put back the custom logo directory (if you have one). 11. restart sagetv and all should be good. check you channel guide Slightly painful manually setting your channel back - but quick overall and sure to get your EPG back and running without harming your source configuration (cleans up old garbage EPG artifacts as well) |

There is a plugin for step 1, assuming the name of your tuner isn't too long. (forget the name, sorry)
You need to swap steps 2 and 3. For step 9, the plugin to save your channels can also restore them. (again, if the tuner name isn't too long) BTW, is it safe to rename your tuner???

However no need if you are not making changes to the running properties file then it will be fine... sage.properties is not locked exclusively. Quote:

You can also change the id number as long as you replace all occurences... |
