TV recordings and Metadata?
I was under the impression that Sage TV embeds metadata (show title etc) in the TV recording files but I am not seeing this happen.
Is this supposed to happen? Is there a setting I have to change? |

I think the way Sage does it is proprietary so we don not see it.

The metadata is stored in the wiz.bin file. The way to access it is through the Java API.

Yes, that was a change (I think introduced with Sage 7.0). In earlier versions, it was stored only in Wiz.bin. So, if your wiz.bin was ever lost or corrupted, and you needed to start from scratch, Sage would see all your recordings as imports with no metadata. The same thing could happen sometimes if you moved a recording from one folder or hard drive to another.
Now, it should be able to re-create that lost metadata in wiz.bin by reading it from the files. However, I think this only applies to metadata created by the Sage core (which is the stuff it reads from the EPG), and probably does not apply to any additional metadata added by a plugin (such as Sage BMT). I don't know if Sage stores this new metadata in the video files in a format that other software can read (it may be something that only Sage can recognize).

I think CMT is what I am looking for. I am encoding the files outside of Sage TV and wanted to tag my MP4 files with the title etc.
Now all I have to to do is a little scripting to read the property file and call atomicparsley to add my tags. |
