New, Air Video HD iOS app
Has anyone tried this newer version of their older, reliable app yet on an iOS device such as an iPad, to access and stream your SageTV server?
I am using the original app, Air Video, but have read mixed reports about operational success using the new, HD version (which is a complete re-build from the ground up). Sadly, none of the user reviews mention Sage, which is my primary source for recorded and converted material.

surprised no one uses this app. of all the remote apps (TiSagetv, VLC, etc.), Air Video has always produced the best images in combination with the best streaming response. It's totally worth the $2.99 for any i-device...guess I'll have to be the guinea pig

Try the mobile web UI... That uses built in player on ios for playback, and should also provide air play..
Oh and it's free |

I love air video, I use it all the time. It even works for me over an ssh tunnel when I'm out of the house.
I hadn't heard of the new version - does it stream in better quality?

it's supposed to handle HD better, and is a complete re-design.

I use Air Video all the time, but I haven't upgraded the server software on my Sage server yet. I did install it on another PC on my LAN and it seems to work well but I haven't played with it too much to understand the diffs.
The main problem with AirVideo is that it only works from filenames. That is fine with some folders but it doesn't work some well when you have a Sage TV recording folder with hundreds of files. I haven't tried recently but my prior results with Air Video, Mobile Web, TiSageTV, etc on my iPads was that they tended to work OK but with SD files, but with HD files they would often crash, especially if you tried to scrub forward in the file. This experience is mainly using .TS files from an HD-PVR but also OTA MPEG-2 HD files.

Have you tried AirVideoHD? So far, my results with it have been disappointing...stuttering, blocking, soft pictures. Not impressed.

I tried using AirVideo some time ago. After being dissatisfied with it I finally settled on Plex. I know Plex won't update the playback location on SageTV like AirVideo but it works much better and is more full featured.
