WMC7 PC or Ceton Echo as STB with HD-PVR2
This sounds crazy, but has anyone ever used a WMC7 PC or Ceton Echo or XBOX 360 as a STB with an HD-PVR 2?
Is it possible? (Units may have to be always on and be able to respond to channel-number, ENTER to tune channels, I suppose) The reason I am asking is that I have a 2 cablecard house with both SageTV+several extenders and WMC7+a few extenders. All TV watching done on extenders. I use WMC7 for the copy-protected content only but I am getting very annoyed with operation of WMC7, and would rather watch everything on SageTV. I would prefer a digital 2nd generation video encode via HDMI (+splitter;|) into the HD-PVR2. I am probably going to end up renting a STB, but if this was possible, I could use what I already have and just keep my 2nd cablecard. One thing that would be great is for the SageTV PC to send commands to the WMC7 PC via ethernet for channel changing. |
