Logitech Harmoney Remote

I just bought a new remote the Logitech Harmony, for my computer, and like my MCE remote, the buttons for live tv, video, music and guide, like a some other short cut buttons won't work. Is there a remapping program other than the one I got now that will work to remap these, sage doesn't even reconize the codes for it when I try to remap in the command settings.

This is more a function of what IR receiver you have.

yeah but the thing about this remote I can use it to learn my mce remote functions, which in turn can have all the functionality I want from it and control my projector at the same time. Which was what I was looking for, it is just a headache trying to figure out how to get the other buttons to work, but when I use the mapping embedded in sage, and use the original remote to map it, sage won't detect the code. so therefore it won't detect the code from the new remote either because it is the same code. So I need to remap the keys to make it work somehow. Maybe I need the shortcut codes?

My point is that there are different types of receivers out there. a USB-UIRT, for instance, takes the IR input and converts that to a string of hex numbers, and sends that to sagetv. In this way, and IR sequence can be learnt. A typical MCE remote receiver, on the other hand, take specific IR inputs, and maps them to HID keypresses and sends those to whatever the foreground window is. This limits it to only certain keys that the receiver is coded to use, and because they are keypress events, can be intercepted by some system processes.

You can still use your harmony remote with a more general purpose IR receiver, and would be able to have a lot more flexibility.

What is your Sage playback device? Is it an extender or a PC. If it is a PC then you need some sort of IR receiver as mentioned by Fuzzy.

But the Harmony Remote works fine with Sage, I have had several different models over the last 8 years or so and never had a problem and I have used it with HD-200 and HD-300 remotes and with Sage on PCs. Just add Sage as a device as it is in Harmony's database. Then create a WatchTV activity and include Sage as a device in that activity along with your TV, AVR (if applicable), etc.

Well after doing some digging, I found out that I had some registry problems, between that and the software I was using to make my blasters work, clashed. I think that is what cause the registry problems, so I tried to straighten them out, well that, needless to say, made it worse. I didn't pay attention to one of the registry keys I changed and made windows unstable, and it reset on me and lost everything. When I got everything back and going, and installed the program I am using for blasting, and that is what I made that program do ONLY, and now the remote is working like it should. So when your setting up LM Gensen remote mapper for ir blasting don't set it up for the remote itself. For me it messed it up.

Oh btw wayner, I have a PC for my sage playback, and the Harmony remote is a fine remote, I have the 650. My setup is a AMD FX 6100 six core processor with 16 gigs of mem running on a gigabyte board backing with win10. I'm running nVidia 430 graphics card 4 gigs of mem. This is my entertainment server, which supplies the rest of the house with tv. My son's tv is a client, and we just have a regular TV in our room. This is my main tv which I have to get right. It is on a projector projecting an image of 108 inch. So now it is running right thank the lord but in the mean time I lost everything due to the screw up.

The 650 is fine and it is one of the better ergonomic designs of the Harmony remotes - similar to the One and preferred by many to the latest style. The newest Harmony devices, like the Ultimate, have hubs have the advantage of having a separate blaster that connects to the remote via RF so you don't need to point your remote towards your TV or PC. They also can be controlled by an app on your phone or tablet. But the design of the remote isn't as well thought out.
