FLIRC and Android TV (Any Success/Issues)

I ordered a FLIRC unit so that I could use my Logitech Remote (IR) with my AndroidTV device.

Setting up the FLIRC was pretty easy, I just had it learn my remote keys.

But on the Android Device, it seems to only ever pick up every second or third remote keypress.

Has anyone had any success using FLIRC with an AndroidTV? (or other devices?). Am I doing something wrong?

Thx.

I use it and it works great are you sure your remote does not have 2 codes on each key like the old Hauppauge remotes .... where you had to learn them 2x on the USB-UIRT. I have a universal remote and set it up using the directv remote code... that is what I use.

Well, my logitech remote is in "sage" mode which means it's sending the HD300 keys for everything. Maybe I'll just setup a new activity on my remote and use dish or directtv commands. thx.

Yeah, many devices, including the hauppauge (and the HD-300, by relation) remotes use 2 codes for each button, and they alternate on each new press of the button. This is so the device can detect whether this is one long button push (where the same code would be transmitted repeatedly), or multiple successive pushes. I would HOPE the flirc could be taught to deal with this scenario, but I've never used it.

Did some searching on the FLIRC site... appears that I need to program each button twice untile they come out with a firmward update.... Or maybe just use another remote profile on the harmony, since I don't need it to send hd300 IR codes... that's just what it happened to be set to on the remote.

True, but it might still be best to use the HD300 codes, and just learn them twice (this is how you have to do it if you use the HD300 remote on a PC with a USB-UIRT). At least then, you might be able to share, or include the remote mappings as defaults. It makes sense to leverage the already existing Hauppauge/MediaMVP/HD-100/HD-200/HD-300 code-maps out there.

Worth nothing that on Friday/Monday, the FLIRCs are apparently 35% off. Regular 22.95, so I suspect they'll be around.. $15.

I just picked up a flirc to use with my new Mi Android Box. I have a Harmony 650 remote.

I set flirc to use the Kodi controller. I then go into the Harmony app and select Flirc / Kodi.

Unfortunately the back button does not work.

Does anyone have a Flirc configuration I can use? Or instructions on what keys I should remap?

Thanks,
John

I'd talk to Stuckless. He can let you know how to log the event that the back button sends, and he may be able to map it in the miniclient.

If you go into the MiniClient settings there is a setting to log unmapped keypresses.

It turns our that Harmony never mapped the BACK key to anything, so that was easy to fix.

I am still trying to get the Harmony keys mapped to the SageTV functions. For example, mapping the INFO, POWER and OPTIONS functions to Harmony keys.

I am trying to decide if it better to do this is the FLIRC mapping or the Harmony.

I think the BEST idea would be to set the harmony to Hauppauge, which essentially duplicate the sagetv remote, and program a flirc profile to match those commands to appropriate android events.
