Quickmode- is this possible on Sage?
TiVo has something called Quickmode that plays back files up to 30% faster and corrects audio pitch. Is something like this possible with Sage?

You'd need decoders that can do it...something like this would not be portable across all the different playback techniques in SageTV (linux, windows, extenders, etc.)

Well, unless someone had a way to do it server side, and I'm not sure why the server couldn't do it(well, aside from no implementation being written yet). But that adds more overhead server side, and having dedicated hardware for that task would certainly help speed it along.
![]() Probably not high on the list of things to do for anyone currently here that might have the ability to implement it. Edit: ok, then there is encoding and decoding as Narflex mentioned, with the implication of the many different encoding formats out there. Could probably still be done as part of a transcode process, but you are still talking either specialized hardware or some significant CPU being thrown at it, if not both with some formats. The most 'universal' method of accomplishing this might be if the transcoding gets updated, and the transcoder is made capable of processing this on the server. I don't think many have even looked at that part of sage for an update yet, so it won't be for some time off.
