Finally got round to uploading a sample of HD broadcast in the UK. The SD (MPEG2-PS[MPEG2-Video]) stuff plays fine but HD is a black screen but does play audio.
MPEG2-PS[H.264] Just tried it with version 1.01

IJK player, ive tried EXO but cant get any files playing with that.
Using a nexus 4, so no hard mpeg2 decoding. Ive also tried it on a nexus 7 and another cheapo pad and both cant play the HD files.

I'll see what I can find for a file and get a download link setup. I'll play with it a bit - I do see some of the strange activity that ENE mentions, mainly when trying to switch players without going all the way back to the Sage homescreen, or exiting the UI entirely. I can say that the HDPVR file that I tested was a previously recorded shown, not live, when I experienced the black video with audio.

I can only get Exo to play the above file, whereas, I need IJK player for my usual mpeg2 TV streams (and on a sidenote, now IJK is playing both 720p and 1080i without any issue whatsoever). ... and I'll echo what others have said and go one step further - this miniclient is getting really good. It's even smoother in operation today than when I tried it a month ago.
Thank you. |

I don't think this setup is going to work for everyone... but for my, my recordings are h264 720p and it's pretty good. My biggest hold-ups would have been if comskip didn't work, or if the seeking was sluggish... but seeking is as responsive as it is on the HD300, so I'm happy there. At first I didn't think I would get by with the "dumb" remote, but, I've actually adjusted quite nicely to that as well. The dumb remote is not perfect, and I have occasional hangup, but, for the most part, it's all working better than I actually thought it would

The only thing keeping me on the HD300 is surround sound .

I might take a stab at getting audio passthrough working with IJKPlayer... just not my strength

Stuckless, I just contributed to your Indiegogo campaign, mainly because I am using the Android client quite a bit now and appreciate your continued work on this, but also in part because I would love to see the audio passthrough for IJKPlayer. Thank you and keep up the good work!

I wanted to add to my previous issue that would make the ijkplayer stop working after stopping live content.
I think I narrowed the trigger down to being too close to live tv. I was able to start watching live tv and by skipping backward before I stopped the recording, the spinning circle did not appear and the player was not broken. If I start a recording, then seek as far in as I can towards live, then stop watching, ijkplayer stops working the same as if I was watching live tv and stopped it at the live edge of the recording. When I set the client to pull and watch something live, ijkplayer doesn't crash either, but of course it stops the instant it reaches the end of what was available when I started watching it stops. When I set it to fixed which I believe is what is selected automatically by dynamic mode, the issues return. I'm just throwing a wild guess out there, but based on the behavior this has the appearance of the player asking for more bytes than actually exist in the recording and when the recording stops, the "future" bytes that it's requesting will never be provided causing the player to hang indefinitely.

Cheap Android box that works
I thought I would try a cheap China Andriod Box with the client. So far everything from both HDHR and HDHR Prime is playing flawless. The only problem seen is at the start or during a commercial skip there is some stuttering for few seconds. Payed $40.84 with free shipping. The description for the unit I purchased is as follows:

I don't believe the Android miniclient has any DVD support.

Going to have to rip your DVDs to H264 MKVs to play them back from the sound of it.
