New Build Same Video Card: 0x80040217
I just put together a new build and reused my Radeon R9-280X video card. I am using Windows 10 Pro x64. My previous build had the same, but of course with a different motherboard, CPU and RAM.
The previous MB ran Sage Client just fine. I am using the open source version. I am having the error: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80040217): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback. I tried the latest drivers, and I even went back to the drivers from my old machine...(6/2015). It doesn't make a difference. I went into detailed settings, and only one codec appears for MPEG 2, and that is the Microsoft DTV-DVD, so I have that selected. The video is MPEG-2 off the HD Homerun. I also have tried different H264 codecs, the Microsoft one, and the ffmpeg one. I have tried Overlay, DX9 and EVR Renderer. I even tried to see if things would help by installing the trial version of WinDVD, but no difference, and didn't even see a new codec. Any thoughts? |

I'm having similar issues my system became less robust after Comcast started broadcasting in H.264 over the last month or so. It would be TOTALLY AWESOME if there was a write up on what codecs to install and how to configure SageTV for solid PC based playback. I never really felt this was perfect but Setup#1 was working 99.5% before the Comcast shift...media is OTA via HDHomerun, Comcast cable via HDHomerun Prime and Bluray ripped to .mkv container.
I'm running the server/SageTV 7 on a Windows Server 2008R2. Setup #1 (causes random video play back to "freeze" audio continues) Video Renderer - EVR MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter - ArcSoft Video Decoder H.264 Video Decoder Filter - ArcSoft Video Decoder VC-1 Video Decoder Filter - ArcSoft Video Decoder DScaler Deinterlacing Filter - Disabled Audio Renderer - Default MPEG2 Audio Decoder Filter - SageTV MPEG Audio D... I have read quite a few threads that discuss this, but nothing really definitive, so I agree. Not sure how to get codecs and what ones are legit.
I have attached my debug log. |

So...maybe this should be moved over to the open source area. I "fixed" the problem.
In one of my directories, I found files from when I installed before: Sage v7 Client Install File with rebuilt executables, found in this sticky The file lucene-core-3.6.0 to be placed in the JAR subdirectory The file sage.jar to be put into the sage directory Once I did this, after nuking my old install, it worked just fine. The version that does not work is found in the latest OS version, where I downloaded and installed "SageTVClientSetup_9.0.4.224_beta0.003.exe". Am I the only one to have this problem? |

I had the same issue on a new build. What I ended up doing was installing v7 and then installing the latest v9 without uninstalling v7 and it is working fine now. So you are not alone in this issue.
