Cannot play MPEG-2

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro on a machine. I did that because I could not get MPEG-2 videos to play and I figured a fresh install should fit it. I replaced the video card with a 8800 GT by Nvidia.

I can only play H264 files.

I can play the shows on two other computers on the network, both Windows 10 Pro, and on my HD-200.

I downloaded ffmpeg, and selected it, no luck.

I am using EVR and the Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder.

I am attaching the log file, maybe someone can help? Since I did a fresh windows install (wiped the HD), I don't know what else to do.

Had same issue on win 10 preview with fresh Sage v9 install and HDHR tuner.
Some Google searches later tried free ZOOM player. Installed all available files at install. Did a Computer restart, After that I found several MPG players that would work.

The Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder does not do hardware decoding in MPEG2 only H.264. It is crippled in Windows 10. A new Installation of SageTV9 does not include the SageTV mpeg2 decoder. You need to Install Lav Filters or another Mpeg2 decoder.

This should be noted in the SAGETV9 Install that a Mpeg2 decoder might be required... If not already Installed.

Yes, that worked, and thanks so much for the help!

I had tried just ffmpeg itself before, as you can see in the post, but that didn't work. I don't know why.

Also, I had no problems with another computer with Windows 10 Pro, but maybe some other app installed an MPEG 2 decoder.

Does VLC not share its codecs? I would have thought that would fix it as well.

All of VLCs codecs are provided by its own libraries.
