I've been really impressed with the company Ubiquity and their mPower series. I have the 8 outlet version that also does ethernet. Basically these present themselves via a web interface and you can also SSH into them. I never used the software they came with since SSH was really all I needed. Just make sure you upgrade the firmware when you get it, since it improves the web interface a bit.

That 8 outlet one appears to be just what I need I guess it is possible to use wget to power off and on an outlet .... also possibly putty. Sometimes I need to recycle power on some components ... I get tired of running down to the basement.

There's a posting on Amazon that the Ubiquity mFi product line is dead. Too bad, since I really like Ubiquity's other products and have had good luck using them.

If you want to control multiple outlets, consider this:
http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Logger...igital+loggers

8 programmable outlets (+ 2 always-on). Controllable via web interface, wget/curl or a native Windows app. Supports running multiple internal "scripts". Can auto-cycle any outlet based upon response to ping. Also handles power-sequencing all outlets in case of a major (e.g. incoming) power failure.

I've been using several of these for over 3 years and love 'em. Very reliable.

I haven't tried the wget approach, I believe to change things via the web interface, you'd be doing POST, not GET. The web interface is pretty straightforward in design. I especially like that it tells you the wattage of your devices. I have a perl script I wrote to use the device for server fencing (STONITH) when I was running a cluster. That script should be fairly easy to adapt to most applications.

This sounds like the best I like this in reading the docs.

Auto-Ping Reboot This automatic feature monitors a remote IP address. If a server, router, or other peripheral goes down, the switch will automatically reboot it, without user intervention. Up to 8 devices can be monitored individually.

I hear those are actually very good devices. I would have bought one, but the Ubiquity devices were over $50 cheaper at the time and I found some very positive reviews about the SSH interface.

Great switch I added my HdHomerun Devices and set to Autoip recycle. That way if they lose lan connection they power cycle ...

Be sure to register your purchase with the mfgr... it has a 5 year warranty.

I recently bought another of these units via eBay, which arrived DOA (the previous owner had corrupted the firmware while attempting an upgrade). Since I live less than 10 miles from the mfgr, reached out to them rather than ship the unit back to the seller. Mfgr provided a no-hassle, no-charge, in-warranty repair, even though I was the 3rd owner. How's that for standing behind your product !?!

Thanks for reminding me I had put it off .... Just did it. I am quite pleased with it I really like the spacing of the outlets. Very well made I fully recommend (thanks for recommending ... Fred)... easy to setup.

Cuts down on my basement visits to recycle a device.
