Has a special dll related to this error.

however since i am doing ASTC not QAM im not sure its related.

IS there any other logs etc i can provide?
Which is this Linux V9 or Windows V9? Sounds like Windows based on dll reference.

I ask because I have HVR-2250s working for me. Some might have been ATSC but don't have ANY on Linux currently and may not on Windows. But I could test with either OS just need to know which to use.

Was this an upgrade to W10 or a clean install? I had some issues after a W7 > W10 in-place upgrade although can't remember what exactly they were. After doing a "reset" things worked fine. I am just using the 2250 driver Windows automatically loaded. ATSC only. I did an upgrade from v7 to v9 when the Windows installer first came out, (and I think that was OK, but can't remember). After the last reset I went straight to v9. Anyway this doesn't help your issue except to know that it is possible to run the 2250 on W10 and v9 without any patches or special configurations.

I remember due to installing v9 of sage tv over top of v7 , I actually had to run the installation and setup program twice due to some bug or problem I had.

I forget why I did it and if that does not work, turn off the sage tv service and then turn it on again and see if your tuner shows up then.

I would turn off sage tvs service actually and do another v9 reinstall using the repair option and then restart the sage tv service after that.

That hopefully will fix it.

reinstall didnt fix (same error). uninstalling device from device manager, and reinstalling with older (known working driver) didnt work.

Even after the the uninstall, reinstall, the old mappings are staying around. i cleared them, but would it be worth manually removing the tuner from whatever files it might be referenced in?

Removing it from the SageTV configs won't have any effect. The next thing I'd try is to ask somebody who has this working to post their logs....then we can see where they are different in accessing the device to be able to identify what's missing better.

It does a lot of complex things when setting up the BDA capture devices, so it's tricky to pinpoint what exactly is going wrong from the logs you have.

I can setup a test on Sunday I think. Will have to see if I have a recording gap big enough to pull my AVerMedia Duet and put in an extra HVR-2250 to test on Windows 7 x64. It will be in a VM with the HVR-2250 passed through to the VM. But I think I should have time Saturday night or Sunday morning.

So do you want a log of a watch attempt as well as initial tuning setup?

Wow guys I really appreciate the effort.

I can do a channel, scan without error. It even occasionally shows a signal strength of 6 or 30% or the like. But as soon as I tune or preview a channel, I get the error.

My steps
1. Add analog tuner win-7194
2. Select digital tv
3. Select antenna
4. Select digital broadcast 34288
5. Preview a channel - error

That's very odd you can do a channel scan and it works but not playback. Can you get me a log from when you do that? Both should end up using the device in essentially the same way.

Be sure to post the entire log file, not just a portion of it.

Well it doesn't work (it finds no channels), it just doesn't pop up the error. It also goes pretty quickly.

OK, then that likely won't help. Getting the log from another user with a working setup is probably the best strategy.

Sorry didn't get a chance to provide one. Will see if I can get it setup this week probably not until Wednesday or later.

Inside the archive attached to this post is both SageTV7.1.9 and SageTV9.0.4.232 folders. I included the SageTV7 incase a contrast between them would be needed. I setup the same HVR-2250 in each. Scanned for channels and then played back a few seconds to a minute of live TV in each. I also included the System Info for each so you can see the Java version, Windows version, etc... Anything that SystemInfo in Sage would display. If you need something else let me know. Also though I should post up the XML from the unRAID VM that I used for this test:

Yes, please post a complete log file from when you reproduce the problem...not a partial one. (or if you did I'm not finding it in the thread)

Now I can see the original error that's occurring in the logs...it's this:

Thu 9/22 14:07:35.339 [MainMsg@82db5b] Failed to connect to BDA Demux to TIF hr=0x80004005 4a95285c 4a94d4cc

Unfortunately, that doesn't tell me much. It means it can't connect the BDA Demux to the "BDA MPEG2 Transport Information Filter". Both filters exist in the system, because the last two things it prints out there are their pointers. In the code that connects up the filters, it gives errors for every situation...except when it cannot find compatible pins to connect between the filters...which causes it to give a generic error code and result in the message to reinstall SageTV.

I don't really know more why this is happening to you. What I would try next is the WinTV application from Hauppauge and see if that works...if it does not, then this is definitely something wrong with your Windows install or Hauppauge driver install. If it does work in WinTV...then I really have no idea; but it's possible they are using a different filter setup in their app which doesn't require the same things...more than likely this needs a reinstall of one of Windows/Hauppauge/SageTV to resolve, because this problem really should not be happening.

What is really baffling is that it was working at v7. After the upgrade to v9 it immediately stopped working.

Since then of course I have changed everything, including reloading the drivers.

I will check the wintv app. I can move the card to another slot as well, as well as swap the physical card with a another (i have a spare i think).

Thanks for looking into it, i will let you know

Jeff
