Grey'd out video player

Hey guys, thanks for the hours of happiness. I recently purchased a new Google phone and downloaded the app. The screen during video playback is always grayed out. Had anyone had this problem and is there a simple solution?

See screenshot attached.

Also any updates on the iOS updates? Cheers guys!
