Recording More than You and EVER Watch

When my recording drives (3 1TB) start to get full, I move shows that I am not currently watching to my NAS. (The NAS is an import directory to SageTV). I just realized that I have 5 shows that are in Season 3 or 4 and I have never watched a single episode. I am not sure I will ever find the time to watch them.

Does anyone else record more than than can ever watch?

Yup. When things start getting full, I'll either start deleting stuff or increase the storage. However, we generally don't start watching shows until they've ended. That is, unless it's something epic like GoT and spoilers are likely everywhere. For example, we're now in season 4 of Haven, which ended last year. We also watched Terra Nova, Surface, Defying Gravity, and Dollhouse LONG after they had been cancelled, but wound up hearing good things about them. I don't regret having watched any of them. It takes the pressure off when you already know a show was cancelled.

This is kind of like many wine collectors they have hundreds of bottles in their cellars and consume bottles out of the cellar at a rate of once a week so they have years of supply yet still buy more wine all the time. But it is a worse habit with real physical goods like wine.

Absolutely. Well, my wife does.

We managed to keep up for about 6 years of Sage living. We would get behind on Fall shows but catch up over the holidays when nothing new was on, get behind in the Spring but catch up in the Summer. Lost it a couple of years ago and probably won't ever catch up. Now we have a few shows where we have 50 or 60 episodes and won't ever get to them because we spend every watching moment keeping up with other preferred shows. Yet my wife insists on keeping the favorite, and more of them keep recording...
