SageTV and Emby Integration

Does anyone have Emby set up to be able to handle SageTV recordings? It looks like I need to move/rename files to get the full benefit of Emby metadata. If I just point Emby to the SageTV recording directories the files will show up in the Episodes list. But if I want to get fanart, shows grouped, etc., I need to move the files to a path like <SHOW_NAME>/<SHOW_NAME> SxxEyy.ts.

If I need to rename what is the best way to do that? I know there was a SJQ script to do something like that, but I'm trying to get away from SJQ . I also saw a post on here about a stand-alone JAVA program someone wrote to do something like this.

How do those things work if say someone is watching the recording when it's supposed to be moved? What about recordings with multiple segments?

Mainly I want better playback on computers in the house (Placeshifter is just too flaky), and remote playback, (the Android mini-client is just too flaky remotely). I prefer Emby to Plex (used both) because Emby gives me more control over access/SSL.

I have SageTV create an xml file with the recording. Then I use MCEbuddy to rename the files to something that works with Emby. I also convert everything to mp4 during the process just to help with compatibility across devices.

I have a RecordedTV folder and I move to a separate DVR folder when rename and converted to mp4. Things that are not matched do not get moved to the DVR folder and retain the SageTV recording ID. In Emby (or More likely Kodi) I can play all the content on just about any device. I still use the SageTV miniclient to setup recording and it will play back the mp4 files as well. If I want to watch LiveTV I start a recording and then watch from the File system with Kodi or if it is OTA I can use the Emby DVR function with the HDHR.

So you add the DVR directory as an import folder? Does it still treat it like a TV recording? I'd like to keep the HD300s on the big screens...

In MCEbuddy you can keep the SageTV recoding Id when you rename it. If you keep the Id in the name SageTV will recognize it as a recording. Emby and Plex seem to recognize it as long as the Season\Episode info is good even with the SagTV Id added on the end of the filename.

I do not keep the ID if I get a good Season\Episode match. It still shows up on the SageTV extender in the list of TV shows since it gets imported back in after the rename.

Here is the rename script I use in MCEbuddy. Essentially if I do not get a good metadata match I keep the SagTV Id but otherwise I do not keep it in the file name. :

"%ismovie%<\RecordedTV\Movies\%showname% (%airyear%),%issport%<\RecordedTV\%showname% %recordyear%-%recordmonth%-%recordday% - %recordhour%%recordminute% - %episodename% -%airingdbid%-0,%ifepisode%<\DVR\%showname%\%showname% (%premiereyear%) - S%season%##E%episode%## - %episodename% ,\RecordedTV\%showname% %recordyear%-%recordmonth%-%recordday% - %recordhour%%recordminute% -%airingdbid%-0>>>"
