EPG Service Shutdown 7/1/2017

Awhile back when we got acquired by Google, we mentioned that we would keep the EPG service running for SageTV customers for awhile and then give advance notice before it is shutdown. Luckily...that time did not come soon after the acquisition...but a deadline has now been established.

The EPG data service that was part of the SageTV license, which Google has graciously let continue for 5 1/2 years after the acquisition, will be suspended on 7/1/2017.

I would like to point out that an alternative does exist now. The Schedules Direct EPG service is integrated directly into the V9 SageTV open source software, and provides a very solid replacement for the existing SageTV EPG service at a very reasonable cost. Schedules Direct uses the same data provider as SageTV did (Tribune Media Services).
