Upgrade to v9 - music not grouped

I've just moved from running SageTV 7 on a Windows machine to Sage 9 on a Ubuntu machine.

On the Windows setup my music was all shown with album art and grouped by album, artist, etc.

To move my music files (FLAC format) to just copied the existing files off the Windows machine and into the Ubuntu machine. After the move I see the individual tracks under Songs but under Albums, Artist, etc all I see is "Unknown".

Anybody have any ideas?

Edit: Forgot to say, I did copy over the Wiz.bi file from the sagetv 7 install.

Generally that problem is due to SageTV not finding any metadata regarding albums/artists/etc. in the music files themselves. If you do a reindex of the library (not just the rescan) and post a log file from that, we should be able to determine what's going wrong.

My first guess is a problem executing FFMPEG since I believe that's what we use to extract metadata from FLAC files. You can simply try executing ffmpeg in the SageTV folder and if that fails...that's your problem.

The metadata should be there since the album grouping worked with the same files in my old installation.

I'll try the trouble shooting methods you suggested and get back to you.

Thanks for the help!

ffmpeg wasn't installed on my machine. I installed it, stopped sage server, set force_content_reindex=true, restarted server, no joy.

I was going to try running ffmpeg as suggested but when I looked at the command line options all I saw were options to set stuff in the file, nothing to read.

I'm attaching the log files from when I attempted the reindexing.

Actually there is an ffmpeg in the sagetv directory. I overlooked it. When I tried to execute it with --help option it said the libfaad library was missing. I installed libfaa-dev and can now execute the ffmpeg in the sagetv directory.

A program is recording right now. Once it is finished I'll try the reindexing again.

Edit - Just tried re-scanning rather than re-indexing and ... All is good! Yay!

For your own reference, we only renamed them on Windows...we kept their normal names on Linux.
