UNC Paths
Hi all,
Ever since my ransomware incident, I am now overly paranoid and trying to be heavily secured but, of course that doesn't make things easy on me. I am trying to set up UNC paths to my home videos and pictures. (These are not the originals) I had them setup before over UNC with no problems but, I can't remember how I had them setup. I do know I had horrible security and was logged in as administrator for the entire 10 years of using SageTV but, times have changed. I am now using a general user on the server. I have a NAS that has a limited user setup just for use from the sage server and only specific folders. So, I have a Personal_Media folder and inside that, I have Home Videos and Pictures. I can access it by entering the username and password on the sage server. I setup UNC paths in BMT and see them in sage setup but, when I scan for new media, I get nothing. Scan runs for 5 seconds and stops. When I add a path in BMT, Sage pops up a window telling me a new drive has been detected. I used play, selected a picture and it see it. So, it seems Sage has access to the folder since I logged into it in Windows. I'm just not getting anything under Videos or Photo's. I am running the service and logged in as the general user mentioned above. I did change this after adding the UNC paths since I thought this might have something to do with it. Is there an order of things? Setup service first then UNC paths? I don't know, I'm just reaching here. Any advice would be appreciated.

I also wondered if it has something to do with the way I have my users setup. I do log into the sage server with one account and the log in to the NAS Personal_Media folder is different. UGH, so many possible reasons here, I hope someone knows for sure why I am not able to import media.

I answered my own question.
I needed a user on on my NAS the same as a user on the sage server.
