Video out from PVR350
Hi,
I have just bought a PVR350 and installed SageTV as it looks to be the best solution The first two issues I have reached ( and haven't found any solutions for ) is how to changce the aspect ratio on the s-video out on the PVR350.. I have tryed to change it in SageTV to 16:9, but it doesn't make any difference.. it stil sends out 4:3... And the picture is only in the upper part of the screen - and if I try to move it, the only the text moves around in the area, cant move the picture area on the screen. I have the same problems from the software that is bundled with the PVR card... So I don't think i it is a problem with the SageTV software, but some settings that have to be set on the Card - just don't know how

The PVR-350 will play back the same video that it records, 4:3 NTSC or PAL (it doesn't do HDTV). The only thing you should be able to get at 16:9 would be DVDs, and those won't be played through the PVR-350.

Just an update to my problems
After upgrading to the 22162 driver the wintv app shows the correct output to the TV, but it didn't solve the problem in SageTV, so I now think that the problem/solution should be found in the SageTV application. I also got another problem now - I can't see any video clips or live tv through the tv-out on the PVR350 - I only got snow... on video clips I also get the sound, I don't when I try to se TV..

For some reason the SageTV only uses the upper 4/5 of the screen, and I can't manage to find out why, or how I can change it... Why can't I see dvd's through the PVR350 ? That was one of the things that I needed it to do

As for not being able to play DVD's with a 350, that is because the 350's decoder does not support playback of encrypted or or copy protected files. Adding that capability to the 350 decoder would have added additional licensing fees and would have increased its cost. For DVD's you either have to rip them to the hard drive with other software to remove CSS and Macrovision, or you have to play them with seperate DVD player software thru the computer's video card output (instead of the 350). If you have drive space, try DVDShrink for ripping. Be sure to rip to one full long file and not the standard smaller file setting. You'll probibly need to add .vob to the file extension list in the Sage properties file also. |
