No EPG data
I've had my PC turned off for about a week while I redid the office. Now that's back together, I started the PC and SageTV. The EPG contains "no data".
I've searched about and even tried deselecting/selecting a channel in Channel Setup, but nothing happens. The System Information says: Version: V1.1.4 Last EPG Update: Fri 6/23 6:47 Next Update In: 0 min Funny thing is, Last EPG Update is always "now". When I went through the Setup Wizard again, it said it could not connect to the Sage TV server. I'm using the same computer now and it can easily reach the internet. Thanks! Peter Ent Boston

I'd highly recommend an upgrade of your version of Sage. The current release version is 1.2.8 and there's also a 1.3.5 beta if you're interested.

I downloaded version 1.28 as recommended. I then went to System Information and verified that's what I have. The Last EPG update now reads None.
SageTV was unable to connect to the SageTV Server... I press enter (as it says to do) and tries again. And again. And again. So I quite the program. Again, my internet connection is working great. Seems like uninstalling a re-installing would be the next thing to do unless you have another suggestion. Also, if I try and restart the program, it takes me to Setup. Which fails the connection to the Sage TV server. So I can't even watch TV with it anymore. PS. It is trying to locate EPG data for zip 02118 if that's any help. --peter

I had the same issue. For me it had something to do with the subscription change. WHen asked to enter my SageTV service subscription I entered TRIAL instead and it worked fine after that.

I tried using TRIAL but that didn't work either - It just won't connect to the SageTV Server. So I removed it (via Add/Remove Programs) and rebooted. Didn't work either. So I went back and selected the "I don't have an access code option."
I can view TV, but it is in B&W and no sound. I have a PVR250 card. When I run the Hauppauge WinTV program, I get color and sound. Seems like I am slipping further and further away from a working system.

Use the access code KeAuraPete (any access code works now) and try it again, let me know what time you try it. I'll check the server logs to see what's happening on the other end.

The SageTV server doesn't even have a log for your connection attempt. Try reinstalling the latest version.

I have already tried that. Perhaps I need to uninstall the version completely - registry and all? When I uninstalled (Add/Remove Programs) the older version before, then installed the new version, it still remembered the access code, zip, etc. So it would be nice to start clean. What do you think?

I found the problem - it's my firewall. I have the highest security level set. I tried lowering it until it worked - that turned out to be to turn it off completely.
I had turned on the firewall after I installed SageTV the first time which is why I was able to get it to work in the first place. I've turned the firewall software back on. Do you think that it will be a problem getting updated EPG data? I would hate to have to run this computer without the firewall protection. --peter

I'm getting the Sage EPG data through my firewall. Must be one of the settings.

Your firewall should work fine with SageTV if it's configured properly. You should be able to allow or deny access to websites you specify. What firewall are you using? That will allow someone here to help you better.

I'm using the firewall in my Motorola cable/wireless modem/router (I'm not running firewall software on my PC). I just clicked "High" security and didn't customize it. I've now set it at "Medium" security.
I'm not too savvy on the ways of internet security, so I just picked a choice from the list. I would recommend that the General preferences in SageTV allow you to refresh the EPG data and report back if it cannot reach the server. Or perhaps just a Test button. --peter
