DirectShow WDM Capture Manager is initializing

Trying to create a new SageTV install and it hangs at this point "DirectShow WDM Capture Manager is initializing" - I tried install SageTV 9 and get the same error. I am using TeamViewer to remote into the machine, but I've remotely accessed SageTV using TeamViewer before with no problems.

Why would it hang up here?

OS windows 10 pro

It might be some strange device behavior. You'll want to post the log.

Edit: Also, that's not the right splash screen if you used the official v9 installer for Windows which I highly recommend.

Auctually i am installing SageTV 7 - was planning on installing 7 and upgrading to 9 - I think that's the only way you get the CC working.

In any event I tried installing 9 and it gets stuck at the same place.

Does SageTV live anywhere other than c:\program files(x86)\Sagetv ?? wondering if there is something I need to delete by hand?

I'll see if I can find any logs and post them. - My brother is currently running SageTV 7 on another machine and we are looking to move it to a new one and go to V9 in the process.

(my signature is for my SageTV server)

That's pretty much the only place it puts files. It also reads from the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Frey Technologies

Well it appears that my Version 9 install was bad and somehow screwed up the machine. I've replicated it on a VM so I know the windows installer did it :/

When I downloaded the latest version it didn't have the .EXE so I added it.

this post: https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/new...reply&p=605024

mentions someone else having problems with the install:

The 9.1.1.651 client install seems fine, aside from the missing file extension...
So looks like we are going to need to reinstall windows...

more info / to clarify...

My brother installed 7 and non of the tuners were working. I attempted to upgrade it to 9 and got the error in the original post. I removed everything about sageTV and tried installing 7 but still had error. the 9 install somehow messed up something in windows 10. I suspect it's directx related? but not know how to fix will be reloading machine. installing the same SageTV V9 that I had on a brand new VM resulted in the same error.

Still need to see a log to determine WHY it is freezing on startup.

If it will help development I'll get a log file - If you're just trying to help me out, I'll just reload the machine. - As always I am *so* appreciative of the SageTV community!

In fact we are trying out the Linux version on a Hyper-V machine... and it's looking good so far. Got some snags but that's in another post. We may just move over to Linux as it's the most supported anyway.

Log files of any unexplained issues will always help development. You may not be the only one to run into it and reloading is painful.

And if you do try again then use the exe that is now on Bintray. In theory its the same with the extension but who can say for sure.... i tested it on a vm without issue but systems vary for sure.

Upgrading to hdhomerun_windows_20170512beta1.exe caused the issue for me win Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

I uninstalled the hdhomerun software and reinstalled an earlier version hdhomerun_windows_20161119.exe. Scan for the tuners and the channels and applied. SageTV 9 is working again.
