Waking Win10 for Scheduled Recording?
I was doing a search here, but found only a few old threads (2006-2008) on the subject. Given how Windows 10, and our current hardware has advanced in sleep abilities... I was wondering if there was any new information, or ways of dealing with waking machines for sagetv.
Up till now, my Win10 rig will sleep at 2am from a Task Scheduler event (if its not already still sleeping). Then I just bumped it when I wanted to watch something on Amazon Prime or VLC (which is all it had till now). But now, with sagetv migrated to it from my old XP rig (which never recovered from sleeping well, so it never slept... for 11 years straight)... it would be nice if the new machine woke up like 5 minutes before any random recording scheduled. I just do not know where to begin on setting something like that up. Thats new ground to me. - Are the old (2006) threads actually still relevant? - Any links to information that would cover this need if not? Thanks. |

Sage should pretty much handle this out of the box. It will request the next wake time to windows whenever the scheduler runs. i believe there's a setting in there to control how early it wakes. (Look under Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Power Management Options).

Interesting.
I guess one way to find out, is to let the machine stay asleep until something is auto-scheduled by favs and see. (Although, I wonder if sleeping is causing another issue I saw yesterday, but its too early to tell yet.)
