SageTV Has Stopped Working....

That what it says. Haven't ever seen this error, but in the last three weeks I'm seeing it nearly daily at some point. Recordings aren't effected to my knowledge, just the SageTV GUI on my Sage server. Here's the complete text:

'SageTV has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available'

The Sage GUI is greyed out in the background, so Windows hasn't closed the program completely, as that has to be done by closing this error requester.

Anyone seen this before? Could it be a hard drive connection, a java error, any ideas?

Post your sagetv_0.txt log file and any hs_err_pid_* files when it crashes.

Also, what specific version are you running?

I know where to find the sagetv_O file, is the other one in the same location? I'm running v.9 on W7, 32 bit with 4gb ram. Never had this problem before in six months running v.9, so I'm wondering what's new, other than a hardware error inside

I think the others show up there too, if there's a hard crash of the JVM.

What specific V9 version (i.e. 9.m.n)? Check in the system info to see.

Hi again - the last hs_err_pid event was from May, so that wouldn't seem to be the problem. What would I be looking for in the sagetv_0 file? Any chance that turning a media extender on or off could cause this? Luckily recordings aren't effected as long as the service is running, which it usually is.

Actually, since it's the client GUI that's crashing, you'll want to look in the sagetvclient_0.txt. The last things at the bottom will be what it was trying to do before it crashed.

actually, it's my server, not a client, where the 'stopped working' requester is appearing - I run the SageTV software on my server most of the day, as opposed to watching via a media extender, which I use in other rooms. Does that make sense?

If you are running in service mode, the GUI is a client running locally.

No. Just post it or at least the last bunch of stuff after it crashes.

Feel free to edit names to "show1" if you'd like.

Even the last 10 lines may show something.

Hi - this has started happening again, often when there's a top-of-the-clock program change. What am I looking for in the .txt file?

Lots of different things. If you don't want to post the log, there isn't much I can do.
