Now I can't set weather location?
Sorry, it's me again...with the most recent Gemstone release on a Windows client, I can't seem to set my weather location. I saw the new locked feature and toggled it as a test, that doesn't seem to be related.
With Weather Underground (which I used previously), the location is stuck on 'autoip'. No matter what I type in this box it reverts to 'autoip', which just seems to give me random locations throughout the US and Canada. At the moment, it thinks I'm in Aurora, UT, but I've seen locations in CA, WI, NC, LA, TX, UT, AZ, Alberta, and Ontario(!). Toggling between Yahoo and WU seem to cause it to change locations, but not all of the time. Yahoo seems to have the opposite problem. The location line is always blank but no matter what I put in it I see my local forecast (perhaps it's still on 'autoip' and it just is able to figure out where I am?)

I found the issue. I likely need to make a change to the phoenix core to resolve it more permanently but here is a work-around...
On a Windows Client or a Linux/Windows Server... - make sure it is NOT running - edit the .properties file (sage.properties or sageclient.properties) - find the line "epg/zip_code=". It is likely blank - add your weather zip to this...you actually can set it to anything - save .properties - restart SageTV You should now be able to set the weather location to anything. If the location name does not change for you just rotate the provider to another provider and back and you should be good. Background: It seems the new SD EPG must not use this epg/zip_code property so on a new install it is never set. Phoenix core services which provides the weather services for Gemstone, on startup initializes the weather if it has never been configured to the value of epg/zip_code. As this value is blank you get into a look that never allows you to change the location. Should not be difficult to fix once I find the time. k

Thank you once again! I could have sworn it was working previously but perhaps not...or maybe it was working until I tried to mess with it.
A note for future passerby's: I ended up adding zip code to all three of my SageTV instances (Windows client, the Windows service that provides the Colossus as a network turner, and the Linux server). It wasn't until I changed the server that the problem corrected itself. That makes sense as the server is what pulls the EPG. Initially I was expecting the correction was only needed on the client since somewhere I read the client is what actually pulls the weather. So, try the fix on the server first, then clients if needed.

Gemstone 1.402 fixes this and is in the repo. No need to update if you have done the work-around as there are no other fixes.

Just installed latest Sage, then ran some waiting Gemstone updates - still can't set location for weather, everything stays "Beverly Hills". Headed to .properties now...
No joy for above directions, setting this now: phoenix/weather/location=48381 was set to 90210 Nope still have Brandon Walsh's weather Oh well... Last edited by Polypro; 10-03-2017 at 03:13 PM. |

What version of sagetv and gemstone are you running? The latest version fixed the above issue.

Won’t let me... only gives me options to Disable or Uninstall. Though the plugin list says Update Available.
Details say the incompatibility reason is SageTV Core Version 9.1.6.0+ Last edited by NoodleNT; 10-28-2017 at 05:27 AM. |

Didn’t realize there was a new server version... all fixed!
Back in the day, didn’t we get a message alert in the system that a new version of the server software exists? It would be nice to have that back. |
