Firefox 57 and the end of "legacy" addons (like NoScript)

So, what does everyone thing of Firefox 57?

So far, I'm not really liking it. I actually rolled back to 56 for a while until the Webextension version of Noscript came out, so I'm back using "current" firefox again. But stuff just doesn't seem quite "right".

For example, I've got scripts enabled for this forum, but for some reason quoting appears not to work. There's also a few other extensions that I've used that are gone now.

Anybody else using Firefox 57? Like it? Hate it? Are there good alternatives to FF or Noscript?

It broke most of my legacy add-ons. The add-on authors have stopped dev out of frustration with the changes so I'm less than happy. I've seen no speed change as advertised, but mine was not slow to begin with.

I like the speed of it, and the absence of advertising, which I can't say the same regarding Opera. I don't really have any add-on's otherwise.

I can say that on one Win10 machine, I've had it bring a fairly fast i7 with SSD to a halt for nearly a minute more than once, until I killed the process with task manager (which also took some time), so not sure what that's all about yet.

What adds? I don't recall Firefox itself having any adds....

Yeah, I'm not going to run without some sort of script controller, not when websites look like this:

To clarify, I have not experienced advertisements in Firefox. I did experience advertisements with Opera.

I do miss having the option to run Java in older versions of Firefox. I haven't figured out how to do that, if it's even possible.
