9.1.10.783 seems to be the last that runs on XP. But I'm not sad because the Linux version is working so well. I got MsMoney working in an XP VM on Linux, so it's finally time to say good bye to Windows except for video editing, which I'll just have to learn to do in Linux or get Videoredo working in a VM which I haven't tried yet.

hi
I am running mx linux in systemd mode with 4.19 kernel 2-2255 cards & a quad card on 9.1.10 server version. The 2255 drivers I had to manually add into lib/firmware file. You might wanna give it a try. I find it a more pleasant experience than ubuntu. The gang at the mx linux forum is very helpful as well. good luck |

You may find this a handy reference. It lists Linux Altenative Packages to your well known Windows programs.

Linux & hauppauge drivers as well as how to deal with live playback in linux
Issues with the drivers is the very reason I have gone with the 4.19 series kernels, as well as getting away from Ubuntu distro. The changes that Hauppauge made to the drivers have made their way into the newer mainline kernel. If you go with the older kernel you get buggy or missing driver/firmware. In the older kernel you had to use the ubuntu custom kernel ( before the changes made it into mainline kernel.
Having said that, the dual tuners are no longer supported only the quad in the newer kernels. To add that hardware you need to manually add it to the lib/firmware folder. On a separate issue, you mentioned noticing the inability to do watch live shows. That is related to the codecs & the mplayer in linux version of sagetv. My work around is to install & use Kaffeine, which is a customized version of vlc ( with vlc providing the codecs, aside from the media codec packages of the distro). So basically I use Sagetv as the Dvr, & Kaffeine for watching live when at the linux server./client pc. I have 8 tuners so I have 7 added to sagetv & save one for kaffeine. On my tv I have a win 10 client, where the live playback isn't an issue. FYI VLC can also stream from tuners, but I like the refinements of Kaffeine & the ability to see epg taken from OTA tuning. Here is a picture posted on Hauppauge company website that will give you an idea of how it looks & works. http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/suppo...html?#kaffeine Last edited by Galaxysurfer; 06-01-2019 at 07:00 PM. |

By not supported I meant that the drivers aren't included in the kernel. I am still able to use the cards. I just had to manually add the drivers.
